AAA STAFF MEET IN ENTEBBE

This year, January 2017 saw the AAA staff meet at Secretariat in Uganda. The staff, who work in different country offices namely; Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Malawi gathered at J&M Hotel Bwebajja on 18th and 19th  January to sit and discuss the different issues affecting AAA both positively and negatively.

On day one, the program engaged the staff to look back at 2016 country chapter reports, right after the welcoming of Executive Assistant, Patricia Kyosiimire and opening remarks from AAA Director, Mr Farid Karama who was very enthusiastic in having the staff together to tackle issues and move towards a positive 2017. He was more than thrilled in taking the staff through the 2017 Annual Plan, a plan to increase the positive impact AAA has to give to its members this year.

After lunch the staff, by lead of AAA Director, drew up the BC and CC draft work plans. These to share with Country Chairs and BC leaders for their final input.

Day two saw the staff sharing the draft BC and CC work plans with Secretariat. Later on AAA Communications officer, Constance Munyenyembe, engaged the staff with the new AAA Members App by taking them through each component and how to use it. Each BC activity across the 6 country chapters will have tutorials on the Members App usage. Another team building activity involved the AAA Accountant, Lwiza Mgaya and Celestin Hakizamungu (country Coordinator Rwanda) tutoring and helping the staff with Quick Books.

On the last day, 20th January 2017, AAA staff went on a company visit. Dr. Stephen Birungi, Pan African Board Vice Chairman, opened up his company premises, Alfasan Uganda Limited, for the staff to visit. The visit took staff members through the company’s new Veterinary medication production sights as well as through the different departments within.  AAA Country Coordinator Kenya, Samuel Kabiru stated that the visit was an eye opener, that if SMEs are supported with the right finances, they can go beyond increasing their turnovers to building a successful company. He hopes this year more AAA members get to access to finance to boast their businesses.

More than anything, AAA staff coming together brought about oneness in bringing better tailor-made services to its members.
